Chronic Tension Headache and Cure
Monday, January 10th, 2011As the name suggest, this type of headache is caused by tension and can be very painful headache even more than the most excruciating headache migraine.
It can be cured with various over the counter medicines like aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen or acetaminophen. But it is not always advisable to try it regularly as one might even got addicted to it. Although these drugs will have some minor to severe side effects if taken regularly.
Apart from over the counter medicines, one can even take the prescription medicines offered by the physician like Naprosyn, Indocin or even Torodol. As always these drugs too have side effects like nausea, vomiting, and sometimes even ulcer.
Even opioids can be used to cure tension headaches. Like flurbiprofen, fenoprofen, etc.
There are even drugs like barbiturates and ergots which can cure the tension headaches with much less side effects than others. Physicians might even suggest muscle relaxants like Soma. But in reality these are not actually muscle relaxors but are analgesics which act as pain relievers rather than muscle relaxors.
As most of these drugs are habit-forming and hence should not be used regularly as it might lead to other serious ailments in the future.
